our 3 favourite things to do in NORTHUMBERLAND:

1. Afternoon Tea - The very inspiration behind our Earl Grey & Cucumber Northumberland scent, gorgeous Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum serve the most delicious afternoon tea in their Earl Grey Tea House - a must have if you’re in the area.

2. Hadrian’s Wall - The inspiration behind the wall in George RR Martin’s Game of Thrones, you can’t help but be blown away by the marvel that is Hadrian’s Wall. At 73 miles long, and featuring various Roman forts & museums; breath-taking landscapes; wildlife and (last but not least!) the cosiest of pubs, you are sure to find something for everyone on a visit to Hadrian’s Wall!

3. Castle Hopping - Northumberland is home to more castles than any other English county. Our favourite is the beautiful Alnwick Castle, the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle. If you’re looking for a fun family day out we’d recommend Warkworth Castle, or Chillingham Castle is you’re looking for a thrill - it’s reported to be the most haunted castle in England!

Our Northumberland products are beautifully scented with Earl Grey & Cucumber, inspired by Lord and Lady Grey’s exquisite blend of fragrant tea.

Howick Hall was once home to British Prime Minister Lord Grey. It is also the birthplace of the famous Earl Grey tea blend, which was concocted especially for the earl there. Bergamot, which gives Earl Grey tea its distinctive taste, was used to offset the taste of lime in the water from Howick Hall’s well. According to one legend, a grateful Chinese mandarin whose son was rescued from drowning by one of Lord Grey's men first presented the blend to the Earl in 1803.

We like to think that we’ve captured the delicate balance of this exquisite blend with our Northumberland scent - fresh cucumber, bergamot and grapefruit meet jasmine, iris and tealeaf on an amber and musk base.

fun fact

Northumberland is the home of Hogwarts! Alnwick Castle was used in the first two Harry Potter films as a double for Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry (hence why it’s our favourite!).

Thank you as always for taking the time to read our blog, we hope we’ve inspired you to take a trip to beautiful Northumberland, or to bring Northumberland into your home with our Earl Grey & Cucumber products!
