Herts County Showstopper!

Last weekend we were lucky enough to have been given the chance to exhibit our candles at the Herts County Show. As a couple who have grown up in the area and who hand-pour all of our products in Tring this was huge for us!

Never ones to do things by halves, and yet having never sold at a show before we thought how hard could it be? In the weeks leading up to the show we poured, labelled and boxed to our heart's content, roping in tablecloths, step-ladders and oak props from our nearest and dearest. Feeling like true County Show professionals we set off on Friday night to set up our stall, only to realise the sheer size of what we'd signed up for on arrival at the enormous showground. Daunted but buzzing with excitement we couldn't help but look on in awe at some of our neighbouring crafters' stalls. After some blood (an accident with a pen knife), sweat and luckily no tears, we were all set up and couldn't wait to get back to it the following morning!

Up at the crack of dawn for a dreary start to what turned out to be a beautiful weekend we set off, all anticipation and excitement for the weekend ahead. Put at ease immediately by our lovely craft stall neighbours, 2 Little LegsGlowbeads and Brand Designs we had the chance to explore the 'Made In Hertfordshire' marquee, and were overwhelmed by the talent in our County!

From our very first customer to our last it was really something to see how just the smelling of our candles and the telling of our stories behind each of the scents allowed people to open up about their own childhood memories and experiences of each of our Home Counties. We met ladies born in Berkshire who had moved to Hertfordshire and wanted a slice of 'home', a couple born and bred in Herts who wanted to bring the bluebells of Ashridge home with them and plenty of you who just loved the smell of our candles and reed diffusers!

Aside from giving us the opportunity to meet some 35,000 of you the show itself was a fantastic event, we had so much fun and were so proud to have been featured in the Made In Hertfordshire marquee - we'll certainly be back next year and look forward to meeting more of you there (and of course seeing some old faces)!
