Looking after your Home County Candle...

We've all been there - you spend forever sniffing out your perfect scented candle, not to mention your hard earned cash, only to find that after a few burns you end up with more wax around the edges of the glass than melting around the wick!

Here at the Home County Candle Co. we've taken great care to create top quality, luxury products, but there are a few little things you can do once you get your candle home to help make the most of your candle. Here are our top 3 tips for how to look after your Home County candle...

  1. 2-3 hour first burn - to avoid tunneling, always ensure the melted wax reaches the edges of the glass on all sides on first burn. This is because wax has a 'memory' and will always melt the same way it did on the first burn. Therefore, as long as the first burn reaches the edges of the glass you'll get the best use of the wax for the rest of your candle's lifespan. Nobody likes wasted wax after all!

  2. Trim your wick - trim your wick to approx. 5mm before each burn. This will promote an even burn and steady flame, helping you to get the most out of your candle. No need to invest in expensive wick trimmers though - nail clippers work just as well for trimming wooden wicks!

  3. Keep out of draughts - always burn your candles out of the way of draughts, which can decrease burn time, cause uneven burning and reduced scent throw.

And it’s as simple as that!
